How to get there?
Ride a van at the back of McDonald's near Metro Point Mall, the terminal used to be located at the basement parking of the said mall then later moved to a more spacious and well ventilated open terminal. Van fare is Php180 each, Upon reaching ''bayan'' in the church near petron, one can ride the trike going to the beach at Php40 each. It can accommodate 3-4pax depending on the luggage at hand.

Travel time from Taft Ave to Calatagan town proper is around 3hours and trike to the resort varies from 15-25mins.

The Beach
The Beach is pristine with its crystal; clear waters, you can go snorkeling and see colorful fishes in less than 6ft of water.

Crossing Two Islands Through a Footbridge

Crossing Two Islands Through a Footbridge

June 2010 (from the Down South Adventures of Abby & Menk)

The Cantiasay-San Pedro Wooden Foot Bridge is a 391 meters footbridge that can be found in Surigao City. It connects two islands namely Nonoc and Hanigad Island.

People inhabiting the area obviously lives by fishing. You can hire a "katig" or fishing boat within the city. I think we paid two thousand Philippine Peso just to roam around. My father who's with us and ironically grew up and spent most of his life in Surigao was not aware of the wooden bridge. He too was surprise when we set foot and crossed the bridge.

An impromptu visit in Calatagan, Batangas last holy week ended in an educational island "hopping" of sort.

Ang Pulo, Mangrove Forest Conservation Park is a marine protected area that can be found in the outskirts of Brgy. Kilitisan, Calatagan, Batangas. Since I've visited a friend their and fellow mountaineer Ken Agsaway, it's only 6km away from their place by means of riding a tricycle.

Cagbalete Island Adventure

CAGBALETE ISLAND ADVENTURE

by Aicelyn Grace Galon, UEM Applicant

Quezon

It was rather a fair morning when we started out for our itinerary. Summer had intensified our minds and bodies that we headed out for a different kind of adventure: UEM hits off to the beach!

With approximately five hours of bus ride, we quietly boarded and wondered in our minds what might be ahead of us for that day. It was pre-discussed earlier on the bus that the island cannot supply 24hrs electricity. Therefore everybody was strict on using their gadget, so most of us just slept. As we approached the junction from Tayabas to Lucban, we got off the bus and headed for Lucena Market via riding a jeepney. As for observing the general responsibility rule of knowing what things one should bring, everybody spread out to buy other necessities that they lack upon arriving to the market. We were given 15- 30 mins. to shop.

Mt. Natib

Mt. Natib
by Jade Mendoza, Probationary
Brgy. Tala, Orani Bataan
February 25-26, 2012

UNIVERSITY OF THE EAST MOUNTAINEERS held its 1st semi-major climb for academic year 2011-2012 along with guest Sir Renan Toledo, Laurel Nemezo, Ishy Samaniego, Adrian Abenes and Sir Florence Fajardo.

The preparation for this climb was the same, although this climb was a new one, because none of us had ever climbed this mountain before, and the fact that the mountain was said to be inhabited by military insurgents put our climb in jeopardy.  But still upon UEM Vice President Sir Jojemar Banag’s sources of information, gave the go signal and the climb was good to go.
