UEM on the Mountain’s Side Trip: Calatagan, Batangas

October 1-2 2011

The first two days of October, a supposed Mt. Batulao Climb for the UE-Mountaineers turned out to be a get-away experience.

It was a week to ponder the finality to pursue the climb since the weather is adverse until came Friday (September 30, 2011) which gave hope for an at least dependable term in climbing Mt. Batulao with this, the group pushed through and
met at 7:00am the following day (October 1, 2011) in Philtranco Bus Station for departure. Bound with 2-3 hours travel during the middle point, the group received a forecast that Batangas is declared under Signal # 1 by PAGASA, word-stricken it was upon reaching Evercrest when the itinerary was revised to regard safety.

After everyone have consumed their packed lunch, the group dropped by in an Alumni’s residence, Sir Ken Agsaway to be in celebration of his father’s birthday and later on proceed to Calatagan’s Beach where the tents were finally pitched for an overnight camp. Although it was drizzling the group followed the tradition, to cap off the day with socials which lasted until wee hours of the morning. Garnering an average of three hours of sleep still, everyone managed to woke up as early as 6:00am to enjoy the rest of Calatagan in a sun-side view through walking by the beach, swimming and sight seeing.  At noon, we took lunch and did a post activity in evaluation of the group’s experience while waiting to be fetched to chase the last trip from Calatagan to Manila.
